Fifty-four year-old British suffragette activist Emmeline Pankhurst, leader of the Women’s Social and Political Union, is found guilty of inciting a person or persons unknown to commit felony, and sentenced to three years penal servitude, following a foiled arson attempt for which she has claimed responsibility on behalf of the WSPU. She begins a difficult nine day hunger strike that results in a temporary fifteen-day release on health grounds.

Transiting Neptune is making its direct station conjunct Pankhurst’s natal Sun in Cancer, signifying the fading vitality of a righteous and determined ego, and the power of a willing martyr to a universalist cause. Transiting Mars in Pisces is square transiting Saturn and natal Uranus in Gemini, indicating a confrontation between the forces of order and change.
